We’re delighted to share that The Velveteen Rabbit will be a stallholder at this year’s Christmas Craft Fair at Brancepeth Castle. If you’re after a bit of festive magic (and a head start on the present list), pop it in the diary.

When and where

The fair runs from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November 2026 at Brancepeth Castle, near Durham. It’s been going since 1987, so it’s got Christmas fairs down to a fine art.

What to expect

Every stall is chosen for quality, with an emphasis on real craft work, and the person behind each one has made or designed what’s on offer. Do ask them about it, as they love to chat. Most stalls are tucked inside the castle’s ground-floor rooms, with a few more out in the courtyard, so it’s a rather lovely way to spend a winter weekend.

Come and say hello

You’ll find us among the makers, with a selection of pastries, pies and seasonal bakes, all made in our own kitchen. Pop over, have a natter and say hello. We’d love to see you.

Good to know

  • Parking: on the grass around the castle, just a short walk away. It can get muddy in wet weather, so wellies are a good shout.

  • Refreshments: there are two cafés at the fair, plus Café Burgschneider in the Gatehouse, which is well known for its German cakes.

  • Children: under-14s go free when accompanied by an adult.

  • Dogs: service dogs only.

  • Access: everything inside is on one level and wheelchair friendly, with a lift at the entrance (please ask for assistance) and limited disabled parking.
